Factual Disadvantages of Solar Energy

Solar energy plays a vital role on our day to day activities. It serves as a significant tool in which we are able to live. It helps us in many ways such as helping plants regenerate or grow the foods that we eat every day. It is also renewable which means that it is life sustaining and the energy that it provide does not run out but as of now, people have find ways to have a more supply of energy through the use of the solar. But do you know that in using solar there are also disadvantages? 

One of the disadvantages of using solar energy is that it is hard to regenerate big quantities of electricity compare to the traditional generators. It means that people should minimize the consumption of it so that the energy will be enough for everybody. Second is that solar energy’s source comes from the heat of the sun, which means that the capacity to function depends upon the weather condition. If it’s hot, then it is very effective but if there is a weather change such as rainfall, solar energy cannot perform its tasks. Third is the upfront cost which is quite high. Installing this is much costly compare to the traditional one because of the expensive equipments which were being used to harness it. 

Fourth is that it needs a large surface area. It is because the installment of the solar panels for example needs a large space so that it could accommodate all the energy needs of the people so that the system will be efficient. Fifth is that it is requiring surface which has enough sunlight.  As to what I have written, heat from the sun is the main source of the solar energy. Sixth is that during night time, the functionality of it does not perform or it does not work because there is no source of power which is the heat coming from the sun. So in order to use this, they have designed a solar battery where in they would store heat during ray time and use it during night time or even in rainy season.

Now, you already know that there are disadvantages using solar energy but you also have to know that even if it has disadvantages, these disadvantages can’t be a hindrance or a barrier in installing this tools because of the numerous benefits and advantages that we can get out from using it.

Now, Taiwanese makers of these cells for Chinese modules are facing difficulties due to the penalty they are experiences. Solar Powered Drones: Benefits and Drawbacks

Many years back the drone technology itself was a dream and with the passage of time this technology has evolved and reached new horizons, and same is the case for solar technology. But solar tech has revolutionized nearly every aspect of human life and now it turns its attention to drone technology. A couple of years back few companies came up with an idea of solar powered drones in order to reduce the expenses of drone carried operations.

Titan Aerospace, a renowned technology company, will test a solar powered drone ‘Solara 50’. The drone will have a 50 meter wing span, will fly over 60,000 feet (15 miles) clear of weather effects in bright sunlight,  with sunlight as its only and primary source of power. The results of this test are far from known but eventually we may see the use of drones in civilian purposes unlike in the past.

The problem is that a drone can only have a limited amount of fuel in a single flight, if a drone is designed to have increased number of flight hours then it must have a fuel tank big enough to last for long hours but this poses a problem to the stability of the system as the whole equilibrium and balance of the plane is disturbed. Solar powered drones wouldn’t have such a problem because they can operate for not only days but years. According to the reports, Solara 50 may remain airborne for years.

Drones can fly well above the average height in contrast to a normal aero plane, this is due to their stable and light weight structure. Solar powered drones are more lightweight than the traditional and operational military drones as they don’t have a heavy engine to keep it running. These drones can easily assist us by tracking hurricanes, bad weather, approaching storms and tsunami warnings.

Solar powered drones can easily spot the areas which are hard to reach by human after a disaster. Increased flight hours can assist rescue teams in reaching the target areas, survey damage and spot stranded victims.

Minnesota officially became the first state in US to come up with a well devised system to calculate the value of solar power. The system does not only calculate the cost of the generated energy to the supply companies but also its value for the society and environment.

The trend of using solar power for commercial and home purposes is increasing day by day, more and more people are shifting towards this safer and cheaper alternative of the power generated by fossil fuels.
